Bewdley Farm House Kitchen Renovation

A calm and serene kitchen as part of extensive restorations made to a Grade II listed Tudor Farm House.

Client Brief & Vision

The clients wanted to remodel their existing dark kitchen, to create a brighter space with plenty of hidden custom size storage to sit within the existing timber framework of the house.

Their vision was to create a larger space by restoring the existing gable end to the property gaining a precious few extra feet of space inside and adding new timber framed windows to flood the space with light.

Having Grade II listed status, it was important to use traditional materials wherever possible including lime render on the walls and restoring the existing terracotta floor tiles. The soft pink cabinet colour (Dead Salmon by Farrow & Ball) combined with the concrete effect worktop and rustic ‘Fired Earth’ tiles create a gorgeous natural palette of materials which helps to showcase the original 15th century timber structure.

Before The Transformation

The Renovation & End Result

The remodeling of the space involved relocating the kitchen to the opposite side of the room and creating a tall central divide consisting of back to back cabinets adding lots of storage.

The integrated appliances create a sleek simplified appearance and the downdraft Bora induction hob negated the need for any bulky overhead extraction. By keeping the walls a bright white and incorporating up lighting on the ornament shelf it helps create the illusion of a taller ceiling something that genuine tudor properties typically do not have!
