Bromsgrove Kitchen Renovation

A thoughtfully designed, split-level kitchen–dining space that combines practical family living with refined, contemporary design.

Client Brief & Vision

This young family designed and self-built a spacious split-level rear extension, creating a bright, generous kitchen and breakfast banquette on the upper level, which steps down into a grand lounge and more formal dining area defined by a striking vaulted ceiling.

The clients had a clear understanding of their functional and storage requirements but struggled to find a kitchen supplier who could translate this into a cohesive design. Previous proposals focused solely on the kitchen itself, rather than considering how it connected with the wider open-plan layout.

At House of Harper, our approach is centred on designing the kitchen as part of the overall floor plan – ensuring it worked seamlessly within this multi-use space while considering everyday family life.

Before & During The Transformation

The Solution

While the extension naturally created distinct zones for cooking, dining, and relaxing, one corner of the upper level lacked purpose. By visiting the site and understanding how the family lived, we identified an opportunity to transform this area.

We introduced a bespoke corner bench seating arrangement paired with a dedicated drinks station – creating a more informal, flexible space for dining, homework, and socialising. The clients brought this concept to life with comfortable leather upholstery and vibrant artwork, adding personality and warmth.

The design features Nobilia’s Riva Sierra Oak doors, offering the beauty of natural wood grain with the durability of a fully waterproof, low-maintenance finish.

Design & Features

Natural oak cabinetry is paired with light worktops and large-format tiles to create a bright, cohesive base. Subtle gold veining in the worktops is echoed throughout the space with brushed gold accents—from handles and tapware to lighting, sockets, and ventilation details—adding a layer of understated luxury.

A number of elements elevate their design even further:

Custom Bifolding Dresser to Conceal Countertop Appliances – Uncluttered yet Accessible

The Curved Island Edge Creates a Softer Seating Area – Complemented by a Round Breakfast Table.

Bespoke Drinks Dresser, Enhanced with Antiqued Bronze Mirror and Integrated Lighting

Appliances & Finishing Touches

Appliances were carefully integrated throughout the design to maintain clean lines and a cohesive aesthetic. The specification includes an antique bronze Quooker tap, a Neff Hide & Slide oven, combi oven, and warming drawer, alongside a fully integrated dishwasher and fridge to ensure the appliances do not dominate the space. A white granite sink completes the scheme, combining durability with a refined finish. Together, these selections deliver high performance while complementing the overall design.
