Lichfield Kitchen Transformation

A bold, modern kitchen that reinterprets classic shaker styling through dark wood, clean lines, and high-performance appliances.

Client Brief & Vision

As part of a full “top-to-toe” house renovation (including a double-storey rear extension!), this project created a striking open-plan kitchen, dining and living space for our clients.

The result? A dramatic, yet highly functional statement space designed for everyday living and entertaining.

The client’s vision was to create a bold, contemporary kitchen design that embraced darker tones and layered textures, while still retaining a sense of timeless design. Achieving the right balance between classic and modern was key, as well as integrating high-spec appliances to enhance both performance and day-to-day usability.

The Blank Canvas

The Solution

We designed a bespoke kitchen using handmade shaker-style doors, complete with carefully refined detailing to give the cabinetry a more modern and streamlined appearance.

Their space was enhanced by subtle yet stunning embellishments, such as a square 50mm cornice and recessed plinth, to help simplify the overall scheme and avoid an overly-traditional feel.

The island quickly became the focal point of their renovated kitchen, both visually and functionally, housing a range of advanced appliances tailored to the client’s preferences. A quick visit to Miele allowed our clients to experience different cooking technologies first-hand, allowing them to ensure their final appliance decisions were perfectly suited to their needs.

Design & Features

Their cabinetry is painted in Little Greene’s “Lamp Black” – a deep, inky tone with a subtle blue undertone. Paired with warm walnut accents in the shelves, this created depth and contrast. The Caesarstone worktops added a lighter element to their kitchen – helping to balance the darker colour palette whilst adding a refined and luxurious feel.

A series of considered design elements really elevated their space:

Minimal Black Bar Handles & Hinges to Seamlessly Blend into their Design

Carefully Integrated Appliances that Maintain a Simple, Uncluttered Flow Throughout

Walnut Drawer Boxes & Panelling, Adding Warmth and Contrast

Appliances & Finishing Touches

All of our client’s appliances and fixtures complimented the performance and aesthetic of their kitchen. The black PVD-coated stainless steel sink was paired with a matching square-neck Quooker tap for a cohesive, contemporary finish. They also invested in a Bora induction cooktop with a ducting channel seamlessly integrated underneath the flooring. A Dunavox Flow-17 dual wine cooler was added, alongside a Fisher & Paykel black glass fridge freezer to enhance the sleek, modern look. Together, these features created a kitchen that feels both sophisticated and highly personalised to our client.
